Off to San Jose…
April 9, 2009
I’m going back to Cali later today to cover the Strikeforce show from San Jose. Expect some Jarry Park exclusive videos(!) starting tomorrow. Yahoo!
Honestly, I’m a little underwhelmed by this card. Other than the main event, the televised card seems like a bunch of tune-up fights for bigger stars. Plus, I still don’t understand why Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos isn’t being saved for Gina Carano? We’ve seen plans executed like this blow up more times than not. At this point, everyone is already anxious to see Carano vs. Cyborg. No need for any tune-up fights anymore.
Strikeforce just announced that Gilbert Melendez vs. Rodrigo Damm will be for the interim lightweight title. Really? A fight put together in the last couple of days will be for an interim title? That doesn’t make much sense to me.
I’m excited to see Brett Rogers back in action. Rogers represents one of the good things to come out of EliteXC. Unfortunately, they had no idea how to promote him. Little is known about his opponent, Ron “Abongo” Humphrey, but something tells me this fight won’t be as easy for Rogers as many people think.
Shamrock vs. Diaz? Tough one to call. If they were both the same weight, I would pick Diaz. However, I think Shamrock is way too big for Mr. 209. I’ll go with Shamrock via decision.
Wait, is this a Strikeforce or EliteXC card? I’m sensing some deja vu when looking at some of these fights.
Anyway, I hate being a downer, so please enjoy the top 10 knockouts in Strikeforce history. Part 1 is above, while parts 2 and 3 are after the jump.
One Response to “Off to San Jose…”
Ok, the Diaz inteview was all I hoped it would be but there is one interview I hope you can manage… Scott Coker.
He was throwing some wild ass names out there last month like Aoki, Mach, Gegard, Alastair and so on.
Alistair is here and Aoki flamed out of the WW GP so he seems to have some free time. Would love to see Mousasi beat Tito up for instance.
Do you think america is ready for Aoki’s tights on CBS buttscooting across?
