Great site.
Baroni is so freaking delusional. When has a win over him been considered “big”? And Riggs having a “bigger fight” now than he did when he was scheduled against Shields is laughable. Baroni needs to lay off the retard sandwiches.
Great job with the NYBA. Baroni has really classed himself up. I think getting out of HH and traveling around to different camps has helped his attitude a ton. Looking forward to that fight.
With Baroni, there are only 2 questions that need to be answered:
1)Has he developed any cardio?
2)Has he learned how to grapple, or atleast counter takedowns/get up off his back?
Unfortunately the answers are usually no and no.. but if I remember correctly, his cardio has been a bit better now that he’s cutting to 170.
try to get a hold of the Alfonso fight. Cardio wise, Phil looked better. I think he did the right thing in fighting some lower profile fights to get used to scrapping at 170. Baroni will look great against Riggs.
I don’t see him being a real threat at 170, but I can’t help but to like the guy. His loses seems to have given him humility and he seems hungry for it.
@ Felix, when he said the wins are considered big, that’s probably because of his star power. He’s a big name. He’s fallen off, sure, but he’s still a big name.
Hopefully his training at EC has done something for him.
I really wouldn’t consider Baroni to have star power. He has name recognition, but more so for being a C class fighter (at best) that is goofed on for his laughable pre and post fight comments and entrances to the ring/cage rather than actual fighting skill.
“I’m sick of giving guys big wins”
So do something about it.
Do you want us to bring in BJ’s mom to fight for you maybe?
Phil has to realize that he is a stepping stone or gatekeeper. He’s a one dimentional fighter with some name recognition. If he wins, it wont lead to anything and the loser will have proven he cant stand with an MMA vet. If he loses, the winner is moved on to fight a stronger or more complete fighter than Baroni.

Yeah, but that’s what makes him so great.

Its the perils of mediocrity.
