Props on keeping your composure. It offended me as a fan, how someone like him can be so closed minded and uneducated regarding the sport, yet show so much disdain for it.
He’s argument is blacks, filipinos, mexicans are not watching MMA because they are a bunch of whites fighting (skin heads). But under the same logic if blacks, mexicans and filipinos are only watching boxing because there are a lot of people like them fighting, they should be considered racist too.
Arum is senile idiot. Of course every men wants to see somebody they can identify with. Either by nationality or race or religion or cities or states/provinces etc, etc… We are still after all very tribal, and fights are still viewed as fights between warriors of different tribes.
AND is never going to change because tribes die, but other ones are born. (For example, Canadians or Mexicans did not exist as such until very recently)

I can’t believe that people keep giving you props for your inflammatory, un-professional style of interviewing that would be right at home if your position were with “FOX” Noise or “The O’Reily Factor” and not attempting to position you as a sports reporter.
Interviews are not about you, nor what you take offense to. You should have KNOWN that telling an old-school, hard knocks guy like Bob Arum that you were “offended”, and then ARGUING with him instead of actually INTERVIEWING him would help you with your hit-count.
Anyone with a serious IQ and ears should be able to discern that this video is nothing more than another idiot with a microphone trying to get his 15 minutes by starting heated discussions instead of actually just getting the facts. It’s one thing to ask questions and get answers. It’s totally another when you purposely get a guy riled up and hit record.
That said, those who support you and this interview are still missing one very key factor: This is STILL helping Bob do the one thing that a promoter is supposed to do: get people watching and talking. People are still talking, still arguing, and still seeing that this is all about a great fight between 2 of the best.
Keep trying kid, you’re… well, you’re not close… but you can get there someday.
Well PJ honestly you’re way off base saying someone shouldn’t be offended by someone they’re interviewing, and that the interview isn’t about them.
It happens are you telling me this is the first time you’ve seen someone take umbrage with the remarks of the person they’re interviewing?
Jeremy Schaap has done it quite a few times on ESPN and he’s one of the best interviewers on ESPN.
It’s obvious though that you’re a big boxing fan who’s an Arum guy and just stopped by to take a few cheap shots.
Also this interview did get people talking you’re right about that, but not about the Mayweather VS Marquez fight.
It got people talking about what a crazy delusional homophobic loon Bob Arum is, and it shows just how out of touch he really is.

Wow.
Just, wow.
Solid interview Ariel. I think we should just stop asking these old boxing promoters about MMA… they just keep getting worse and more offensive.
